A HALFWAY HOUSE for women and children escaping from domestic abuse; a secure place where women and children can stay for a minimum of 3 months.
"We want to restore the dignity of those whose rights have been violated," in a place where women and children could rest, secure in the knowledge that they would be protected.
During their time in the shelter, the women are given the opportunity through various courses to develop life skills. Other courses would be run to help the residents to gain economic independence.
During their time, the women and children would also receive counselling to help them to make the transition back into society.
"Women are very important people in our lives and we should treat them with respect. They are the ones that are mostly the victims of abuse and they are affected by poverty and unemployment."
There was an urgent need for such a centre, " Every 15 minutes a woman gets abuse here in Mexico , and at least one woman gets kill by a partner every day".
Some of the abusers get away with their actions because of misleading explanations given to police officers. "People lose hope and trust in the justice system when such things happen".
Often children were promised gifts and sweets by their abusers in return for their silence. Rape victims found it difficult to talk about what happened. We try to help such people to deal with their experiences.
The government has almost abandoned this center and we feel the need and the calling to be there for these precious women and kids.
As the door of this center opened up for us we want to continue showing the love of God, through our actions and support.

OUR GOALS
◊ Because only 3 or 4 people can visit this center at once, we need more people to visit more often.
◊ To raise money for the expenses such as, materials for craft works, food, propane for cooking and the hot water tanks, gas for vehicles as the center is 30 min away from the city, bibles, note books, pencils, clothes for the women and the kids, dippers, new beds, ladies personal hygiene products, etc.
